Students will collaborate in groups to recognize letters a-z in everyday life. Each student will be able to recognize and locate letters in their name in everyday life.

Tasks:
1) Anticipatory set

2) Practice
*Pictures of block letters can be posted to seesaw. Children can trace the letters while recording their voice saying the letter name. Home link, children will have access to block letters that form their name. Students can practice recognizing the letters in their name, trace the letters in their name, and record themselves saying the letters in their name.
*In centers, children can manipulate the magnetic or foam letters
pausing throughout the video asking the students to predict which letter comes next.
4) Seesaw letter recognition
show the traced letters that students created and posted to seesaw.
5) Letter hunt
After reviewing all 26 letters, the students will be assigned groups to go on a letter hunt. The students will break out into groups of two. They will take turns being the one who takes the picture "photographer" and the one who finds the letter "director". Each group of two will have a checklist with the pictures of the letters a-m or n-z to hunt in the school. The director will locate the letter while the photographer takes the picture.
With the completed checklist and the pictures taken the groups of two will combine into groups of four to collaborate the alphabet a-z.
6)Seesaw Post
Using seesaw the photos can be uploaded while the children narrate the photos. the photos can be shared with the class, school, and parents. Parents and family would then have access to comment on the project the students created.
7) Extension
At school and home students will locate the letters in their name and post to seesaw. The students will also have access to all student and group posts to comment upon

Student choice-the students will alternate between photographer and director allowing them to choose which letters they hunt as the director.

The real world application is building the students letter recognition in everyday life. Realizing that letter recognition and by proxy reading is important to navigate the world. Being aware of surroundings and able to navigate locations through letter recognition. Recognizing the letter W and M allows the student to know which bathroom they need to enter in everyday life.
